Characteristics

Deep Penetrating Wood Hardener for Rotten or Damaged Interior and Exterior Wood

Wood Hardener is a water-based hardener designed to stabilise and provide a solid surface on rotten, soft, or damaged wood before filling, painting, or varnishing.
It penetrates deep into the wood fibres, hardening the substrate providing a firm, stable base for any subsequent filler or coating applied over it.

Because it adheres to both dry and damp wood, it can be used even where some residual moisture remains in the timber - making it particularly well suited to exterior joinery repairs on window frames, sills, doors, and cladding where damp conditions are common. It is not suitable for use on soggy or waterlogged wood, which should be cut back to sound timber before application.

Once applied, it dries to a colourless finish that won't affect the appearance of the wood. After 24 hours it can be overcoated with any Toupret wood filler, or painted, varnished, or stained with any conventional coating.

Do not overcoat with epoxy or polyurethane products.

No mixing is required - it is supplied ready to use in a reusable tin with a brush in the screw-top lid, making it clean and straightforward to use.
